TRAVEL TO VENUE

Traveling by airplane to Belgium (city Ghent) and taking the train to the city of Ghent

If you want to travel to Ghent (Belgium) by airplane, you will arrive in Brussels National Airport (http://www.biac.be)

When you arrive in Brussels National Airport, you have to take the train to the railwaystation “Ghent Sint Pieters”. All trains departing at Brussels National Airport call at the stations of Brussels-Nord, Brussels-Central and Brussels-Midi, where you can switch to one of the many intercity trains (IC) to the station “Ghent Sint Pieters”. Have a look at the NMBS website for the train hours (http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/index.php) or ask the servant for more information at the local ticket counter.

After leaving the luggage claim area, you will enter the arrivals hall on level 2. The red arrow shows you the way to the station, with the ticket counter on level -1 and the platforms on level -2. Lifts provide easy access to the station on level -2.

When you arrive in the railwaystation Gent Sint Pieters (after about 60 minutes on the train), you go to the frontside (main exit) of the station and on your right you can take a taxi to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel UZ Gent (about 5 minutes drive). You can also take the bus: search for bus 65 (direction “Handelsmarkt”).

Please do mention the address of the hotel to the taxi driver because Ghent has 2 major Holiday Inn hotels. Draw the attention that you want to travel to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel UZ Ghent and NOT to the Holiday Inn Expo (Address of the Holiday Inn Express hotel: Akkerhage 2, 9000 Gent).

Traveling to Ghent by car

Ghent is centrally located at the intersection of 2 major European highways: the E-17 and the E-40. The E-17 connects Northern Europe with the Southern countries and the E-40 goes from the North Sea up to Eastern Europe.
